Soren Ted Sorenson, 77, was called home December 27, 2008, at Odyssey House Hospice center in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by his family and loving eternal companion, Carol. Ted was born on the 19th of January, 1931, to Soren William and Eda Mary Sorenson, in Tempe, Arizona. He graduated from Mesa High School in 1948, served in the US Navy from 1951 - 1955. Ted married Carol Standage in 1951, and they became the parents of 6 children and have 29 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Ted worked in the construction trades for many years before going into business for himself, owning and operating The Waitwell Nursing Home in Glendale, Arizona. Ted was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in his callings. Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years, three sons; Monte (Joanna Lamkin) Sorenson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Brent (Kris Minarik) Sorenson of Spokane, Washington, Rex (Kaylynn Bethea) Sorenson of Queen Creek, Arizona, three daughters; Sandra Sorenson Kindt of Mesa, Arizona, Renae (David Hutzler) of Mesa, Arizona, Lynn (Doug Brimhall) of Mesa, Arizona, and two brothers; Marvin J. Sorenson, and John K. Sorenson of Mesa, Arizona. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, in the Red Mountain Ward Chapel 6655 E Preston Mesa Arizona 85215, at 10:00am. A viewing will be held Friday, January 2 from 6 - 8pm at Meldrum Mortuary. A viewing will also precede the funeral service at 9:00am on Saturday. Interment will be in the Mesa Arizona Cemetery.
