Funeral services for Castleman Nathan Redmon, 81, Bourbon county farmer who died Saturday at his home on the Redmon pike, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Hinton Turner funeral home with the Rev. Rhodes Thompson officiating. Burial followed at the Paris cemetery.

He was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Trimble Redmon. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sally B. Redmon; one son, Jason A. Redmon of Bourbon county; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde Calvert of Lexington, and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Joe Penn Redmon, C. H. Redmon, H. H. Bames, Roy Galloway, Clarence Ashurst, Freeman Ashurst, C. S. Calvert Jr. and R. J. Calvert.



Industrious, farsighted and capable, Castleman Nathaniel Redmon is classified with the leading agriculturists of Bourbon county, where he is widely and favorably known, belonging to a family that has been represented in this section of the state for more than a century and a quarter. He was born August 13, 1861, in the house in which he now lives, and his parents were Charles and Elizabeth (Trimble) Redmon.

Castleman N. Redmon was a pupil in the country schools of Bourbon county and afterward attended Colonel Edgar's Military Institute in Paris, Kentucky. He worked on the homestead, becoming familiar with the best methods of tilling the soil, and after his father's death took over the place, which he has since operated. He follows diversified farming and is constantly improving the property, which reflects h is progressive spirit and careful supervision. Mr. Redmon was married September 4, 1888, to Miss Sallie Redmon, a daughter of Washington and Rebecca (Ashurst) Redmon, of Bourbon county, and they have become the parents of two children.       Jason A. Redmon was born on Aug 15, 1889 at Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky. He was the son of Castleman Nathaniel Redmon and Sarah Beth Redmon. Jason married Leona Close. Jason A. Redmon died on Apr 9, 1978 at Bourbon County, Kentucky, at age 88.

Paris---Jason A. Redmon, 88, of the Redmon Road, Paris, died 1:40 a.m. Sunday at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington after an extended illness. He was a retired Farmer, a native of Bourbon County, a son of the late Castleman N. and Sally Beth Redmon. He was a graduate of Paris High School, attended Transylvania University, was a member of the First Christian Church in Paris, a Veteran of World War I, where he held the Rank of Lt. Colonel of the U.S. Calvary. He was a 50 year member and past Commander of Bourbon Post No. 30 American Legion and was a member of the Reserves Officers Association of the United States. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Leona C. Redmon, Bourbon County; one son J.A. Castleman Redmon, Bourbon County-, one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Calvert, Lexington, three nieces and two nephews. Funeral Services 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Paris, by Rev. James Seale. Interment in the Paris Cemetery. Visitation from 4-9 p.m. today.

His grave in Paris Cemetery has a marker for World War I veteran.



The son, Jason A., was born August 15, 1889, and is managing his father's farm. He entered the service of his country in 1.917 and was one of the gallant officers of the American Expeditionary Force. He went overseas as a lieutenant in the Three Hundred and Twenty-fifth Field Artillery and later was promoted to the rank of captain of cavalry. Bodley, Vol. 4, p. 2691.

      Rebecca Catherine Redmon was born on Jun 1, 1897. She was the daughter of Castleman Nathaniel Redmon and Sarah Beth Redmon. Rebecca married Clyde S. Calvert. Rebecca Catherine Redmon died on Sep 5, 1983 at Fayette County, Kentucky, at age 86.

      Pierson Wilson Collier Jr. was born on Jan 11, 1843 at Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky. He was the son of Pierson Wilson Collier Sr. and Amanda Fitzallen Huffman. Pierson married Mary Elizabeth Pierce, daughter of William Henry Pierce and Ann Mariah Clay, on Jul 18, 1876 at Denton, Denton County, Texas.
