April 30th, William Chapman - We learn that on Saturday last Mr. William Chapman of Browning, in this county, was accidently killed. The circumstances as we learn them are that a mover had stopped there to water his horses and Mr. Chapman was standing in the rear of the wagon, and the mover, in pullinghis lines out of the wagon, caught them on the hammer of a gun, causing the pre- mature discharge, and lodging the contents in Mr. Chapman's neck, causing a terrible wound, from which he died in about a half hour. This is all we have learned in regard to the affair.

Hannah Chapman died after 1860 at Jefferson County, Indiana. Hannah was buried at Bear Creek Cemetery, Jefferson County, Indiana.
      Hannah Chapman 1821 married in Scott Co., Ind. 1826 listed in land sale withhusband George Kinney in Scott Co., Ind. 1835 Sept 3, married Robert Miller, Jefferson Co., Ind. She and her father (both widowed) lived some 8 miles from Miller. Her father's name was Chapman. They being of the John Wesley Methodist order and Mr. Miller's house was the place of preaching, Mr. Chapman and Mrs. Kinney were frequently at the service of worship. He was one of the pioneersof Clark County and raised a large family. Mr. Chapman and his boys helped dig the canal around the falls of the Ohio River at New Albany, (Floyd Co., Ind.). Mrs. Kinney's sister had died a few years before and left a little boy babyby the name of Saunder. His father had a large family and he gave Mrs. Kinneythe baby. When Miller married Mrs. Kinney, her father and the baby also joined his household. Miller adopted the boy for his own. Mr. Chapman had another daughter that lived a few miles from Millers that he spent part of his time with, as well as with some of his other children. He died at Millers in 1842 or 1843. He was the first and last to be buried at the Old Bethel Church on Bear Creek on Granddaddy Wilson's farm. (Moses Wilson's father.) His grave is marked with 2 cedar trees. Mr. Miller's family now began to increase by his last wife. The first was a pair of twin boys, and as he did with the other boys, he gave them scripture names, calling them Caleb and Joshua, Caleb died in infancy. Joshua is still living past the alloted time of three score and ten years. 1837 August, The next child was also a boy, named for his father, Robert. 1840 about this time the next child, a girl, was born, named Mary Ann, I think for his first wife. 1840 Census Jefferson Co., Ind. pg-385 Graham twp. Mr. Miller being now a cripple from the cut of an axe, and being to old to follow the plow very good, built a house on another part of the farm for his youngest boy (Jonathan) andrented most of all the cleared land to him. 1844 August 29, Jonathan Miller married in Jefferson Co., Ind. Things went very well for two or three years, but Jonathan, being of an unsettled disposition moved away just as spring beganto open, and through his persuasion, he got the adopted boy to come and live with him by telling him of a great many things that sounded good to a boy of 14. Mr. Miller was left with 2 little boys and a farm. Ind. 1857 March, The father took a severe cold in March 1857, and it terminated in lung fever and not being a very stout old man, he gave up to the disease. Death came to him in a few days. His grave is in the old Mt. Olive Cemetery. The mother and children remained at home on the farm until all were grown. 1858 August, Harriet, the youngest of the family was the first of the family to marry. Mary A..............20.....b. Ind. 1861 about this time Robert 'Big' Miller age 23 years took a notion to see some more of the country. He bid the folks good-by and started to his uncle (Aquilla Chapman) in the weste.

      Harriett J. Killion was born circa 1843 at Illinois. She was the daughter of Elijah Killion and Sarah Chapman.

      Thomas Killion was born circa 1854 at Menard County, Illinois. He was the son of Elijah Killion and Sarah Chapman.

      Sarah A. Killion was born circa 1856 at Menard County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Elijah Killion and Sarah Chapman.

      Martha Killion was born circa 1857 at Menard County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Elijah Killion and Sarah Chapman.

      Margaret A. Killion was born circa 1859 at Menard County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Elijah Killion and Sarah Chapman.

      Robert L. Killion was born circa 1861 at Menard County, Illinois. He was the son of Elijah Killion and Sarah Chapman.

      Elijah Knowles was born on Apr 22, 1790 at Georgia. Elijah married Margaret Woods at Gibson County, Indiana. Elijah Knowles died on Sep 13, 1867 at Butler County, Missouri, at age 77.

      Margaret Woods was born on Mar 1, 1797 at Tennessee. Margaret married Elijah Knowles at Gibson County, Indiana. Margaret Woods died on Sep 11, 1839 at Illinois at age 42.

      Elizabeth Foote was born on Sep 18, 1862 at Cass Twp., Greene County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Robert Foote and Louisa Jane Chapman. Elizabeth Foote died on Apr 5, 1863 at Greene County, Indiana. Elizabeth was buried in Apr, 1863.

     Guillermo married Balsamina Dianda.

     Balsamina married Guillermo Marchio.

      Efford Frank Mason was born on Sep 7, 1913 at Nebraska. Efford married Madelyn Maxine Chapman, daughter of Robert Chapman and Myrtle Houghlan, on Mar 27, 1936. Efford Frank Mason died on Mar 9, 1994 at Orange County, California, at age 80.

      Don Virgil Kelly was born on May 3, 1914 at Oregon. Don married Lillian Lucille Chapman, daughter of Robert Chapman and Myrtle Houghlan, on Mar 15, 1936. Don Virgil Kelly died on Dec 15, 1978 at Orange County, California, at age 64.
