Tunis G. B. KOUWENHOVEN, 80, member of one of Brooklyn's oldest Dutch families, died yesterday at his home, 1672 22d St. His family had lived in Brooklyn nearly 300 years. Mr. KOUWENHOVEN was a descendent of William GERRIT KOUWENHOVEN, who came from Holland to New Amsterdam in 1630 and six years later established himself as a farmer in what became the Flatlands Neck section of Brooklyn. Part of this original farm was operated by Tunis G. B. KOUWENHOVEN until it sale in 1925. Mr. KOUWENHOVEN is survived by his wife, Phebe F. KOUWENHOVEN, whom he married 54 years ago; a daughter, Mr. Gertrude De BEVOISE of this borough, and two sons, Frank W. KOUWENHOVEN, associate professor of mechanical engineering at Johns Hopkins University, and William Bennett KOUWENHOVEN, professor of electrical engineering and assistant dean of the School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins. The funeral services will be held at the home at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be private.

He learned the printing business in Lancaster, but at the termination of his apprenticeship entered upon studies with a view to the ministry. He graduated at Jefferson College in 1824; studied theology in the seminary at Princeton, and was licensed to preach April 8, 1829.
He had charge of Presbyterian churches in Missouri until the breaking out of the war of the Rebellion, when he became chaplain of the military hospital in St. Louis. He there incurred the disease which terminated his life, Sept. 29, 1862. He was in the fullest sense an evangelist, and was instrumental in founding and strengthening a number of churches in Missouri.
He has two sons in the ministry, the Rev. John F. Cowan and Rev. Edward Payson Cowan, the latter now of Germantown, Pa.

He was in the fullest sense an evangelist, and was instrumental in founding and strengthening a number of churches in Missouri.
He has two sons in the ministry, the Rev. John F. Cowan and Rev. Edward Payson Cowan, the latter now of Germantown, Pa.

Conover Wednesday night at her home, 1528 Asylum avenue, another pioneer has ended her long journey. Mrs. Conover, whose maiden name was Therza Rozell, was born March, 1841, near Connersville, Indiana. She was married in 1861 to R. B. Conover who, with two children, Frank of Butte, Montana, and Miss Lula, of this city survive her, one child having died in infancy, and another daughter Daisy, a beautiful girl of 20, dying some seventeen years ago.
In 1872 Mr. and Mrs. Conover came to Oregon, coming to San Francisco and thence northward by sailing vessel. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a loyal member of the Presbyterian Church. She been ailing for some time, but the end came unexpectedly at about 10 o'clock Wednesday night, when she was seized with heart failure, and passed away in a short time.
